Job Description and Duties

Under the supervision of the CALTRANS BRIDGE MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR, the incumbent performs various types of highway maintenance functions such as, but not limited to; heavy manual labor, AC paving, pothole, mowing, pruning and other duties as required. The incumbent preforms miscellaneous laboring work in connection with the maintenance of state bridges. Priorities are set and the incumbent is expected to coordinate the necessities to accomplish the function with a reasonable degree of independence. The incumbent is required to work on and from a boat servicing the Toll Bridge from the water. The incumbent will be required to work from heights greater than 500 feet.

Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Caltrans Highway Maintenance Worker exam. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions. Special Requirements

• The position(s) require(s) a valid California Drivers License (CDL). You must answer the questions addressing your CDL on your application. Ensure you provide your CDL number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions.

• The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.

Class "C" Driver License is required.

Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating a state owned or leased vehicle.
